Another Wedding Album

Here we are again creating Wedding Guest/Photo Albums.

My eldest daughter Rebecca is getting married in December at Horsely Hall near Stanhope. A lovely setting although by then we may be under a covering a snow but we have been assured that the lane will be cleared by one of the many farmers that live around there so no guests should get stranded. Fingers crossed.

The dress has arrived and is now carefully stored ready for the first fitting. Rebecca has created her bouquet out of beads and crystals, unfortunately I don't have a photograph of it finished I will have to update you later on that one, she is also doing the button holes herself. I have created the favor boxes and the wedding guest/photo album, I have also created one for myself, I am guilty of taking photographs and storing them on my hard drive and never printing but with wedding photo's I find it so much better to put a few in a nice little album for friends and family who don't attend to view. I also want to redo her cake topper on a smaller scale with more detail as I now know the design of her dress and headdress.

I have posted some photographs of the finished albums, to view more on this post please follow this link. The full story appears on http://tinyurl.com/5usd88b

Chain Maille Bracelet

It is ages since I have updated my blog, I have been too busy with my new website but in an effort to put this right I thought I would show you my latest jewellery project. Chain Maille.

I got all my jump rings together along with the instructions for the piece I was going to make, Dragonscale. Unfortunately I just couldn't get it together. No matter how hard I looked at it and how many different instructions I looked at I couldn't get it to come right. After two days of getting so far and swearing at the jump rings I began to lose my temper so I decided to attempt another pattern instead. For the sake of my sanity.

This time I managed to complete and here is the evidence.

All set to go.
I knew I was missing one step from getting the pattern right but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what that was. I had to admit defeat on the Dragonscale but I can always revisit it at a later date and have another go.

This is the second attempt of getting something right and thankfully it worked out well. The pattern is a daisy and it has a total of six flowers each with six petals.

The rings are made from non-tarnish wire and come from http://www.beadsdirect.co.uk/
Chain maille rings are not just your ordinary jump rings. These artistic wire chain maille rings are precision made and have the ideal temper for making chain maille designs and come in loads of different colours. You can also buy beginners and advanced books showing you lots of different designs and all come with instructions.

I also want to congratulate my good friend Carrie on her new business venture. You can visit her website on http://www.pressfordesign.co.uk/  Affordable web and print design. Carrie is also a very accomplished print maker and dazzles you with the intricacies of her carvings take a look at some of her work http://erasercarver.wordpress.com/ I know you will be impressed.

Birthday Topper

I was asked to make a Birthday cake topper for a little girl called Lucy. Lucy will be 3 years old at the end of August.  She likes all of the Mr Men and the Little Misses.

I began by deciding which of the bunch to make and finally settled on Little Miss Sunshine for her infectious giggle, Mr Happy as he is always happy, Miss Chatterbox as Lucy is always chattering and you can't get a word in edge ways, Mr Bump as he is so lovable and lastly Mr Tickle who likes everybody around him to laugh and giggle. Here is what I came up with.

Little Miss Sunshine

Miss Chatterbox

Mr Happy

Freshly baked Mr Men, Mr Tickle needs his arms but I need to position them on their base first so I can be sure to make his arms long enough. He wants to be able to tickle Little Miss Sunshine and Mr Bump.

Mr Tickle now has his arms and is tickling his friends. Miss Chatterbox has her shoes all painted and the laces tied and Little Miss Sunshine has fastened her ribbons in her hair.

I have added a lamp post so they can see where they are going and I needed somewhere to position the number three.

This is the back view, haven't the flowers grown well!! Must be good fertilizer.

and finally with the addition of the number three. I have made this detachable so once the birthday celebrations are over it can be taken off and the Mr Men and Little Misses can be displayed on a shelf.

Hope you like it.

Coates Family.

This Wedding Cake Topper is for Rachael and Andrew who get married in July.

Two smiling fishes in the bag already!

Fishing rod at the ready to catch another.

and now for the bride.

Pasa, a German Shepherd dog is next.

I had to get the basic shape of the dog right first. Pasa has been fishing too!

Then add some colour into the mix.

I made the base a wee bit small to fit the three figures, so had to make a larger one to sit them comfortably I also needed the banner that the names will appear on.

Now Rachael has hair complete with tiara and her bouquet of cream and white roses.

Man's best friend.

The back view of the dress, I have added little buttons. The happy smiling fishes are waving and the large fish is swinging merrily from the fishing rod! Pasa is sitting very still in case the fish should slip away.

The happy couple with Pasa of course.

Comments from Rachael and Andrew.

Biker Wedding

I had to think long and hard as to how to tackle the motorbike. I wanted it to look as authentic as possible without going into every minuet detail.

All ready to go into the oven, bits of greaseproof paper hold the important bits while it bakes.

I have to admit I am pretty pleased with it, Groom next I think.

Easy rider!

Now has hair, still no eyes.

Say 'Hello' to Smudge.

He likes to ride pillion!

and now for the Bride.

I wanted her slightly leaning forward so she can grasp the bottom of her dress to show her Mother of Pearl biker boots off!

All they need now are eyes to see the road ahead.

Back view of dress and bike.

Bike washed, nice and shiny, shoes and boots polished all ready for the open road.

I have really enjoyed creating this model, I hope it shows in the detail. The bike took a little thinking about but I am very happy with it.

Although John & Denise have not named the day as yet, the model will be put to good use on display at Wedding Fayre's and then given to them for their big day as a present from me.
